93. Jim Love, Anyone Can Be a World Leader

Jim Love, Anyone Can Be a World Leader (from the series Tomorrow is No Solution), 1984. Bronze, approx. 8.5 x 6.5 x 6 inches.

We’re told, “You can do anything you want.” And what’s astounding is, it's true. Once all the history we’ve accepted as reality—because what else could it be, if that's all we know?—once that evaporates, we get to decide whether to make friends with who we are. Not everybody can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. Jim Love made this wonderfully satirical work as part of a series titled “Tomorrow is No Solution.” He was right. Today is the day. So what will it be? What chair do we want to stand on?
